Thoughts from the day... plus a short story or two.

So many thoughts have been flying through my head yesterday and today, mostly regarding raising our little girl, so I (Emily) thought I would share some of them...
#1 (first one was inspired by a friend) - Kaylee has done and continues to do nothing to deserve our love. If anything, her actions toward us would be seen as selfish and impatient, yet we cannot imagine loving her more. This is so much like God, the Father's, love for us! (Yet our love for her, even though it feels SO great, is far, far less and imperfect). We have done nothing to deserve His love and can do nothing to gain it or make it increase.

#2 I know it won't always feel this way, as life has bumps along the way, and there are many, many more trying times ahead but it is difficult to remember a time when life felt so rich, yet exhausting. :) As Dean Selden would say, though, it's a good kind of tired!

#3 Patience is key.... in so many aspects with a little one and two sleep deprived parents. (Kaylee is far from understanding this :) Good thing we don't expect her to).

#4 The design of the marriage team is amazing!!!

#5 I am pretty sure I could search the world and I still would not find another profession that I would rather have.

#6 God is crazy amazing - He works in truly miraculous ways - reminded of this SO many times today while sharing and hearing story after story of His goodness with friends family.

Now for two really quick stories... (Brandon and I are constantly smiling and laughing at little things that happen, but I have difficulty remembering them later so I'll try to jot them down in the future so I'll have more to share)

- Emily's blonde moment... For some reason, it just didn't click/cross my mind that babies don't come out understanding language. I understood they couldn't speak it, but failed to process, for a split second, that the had to learn to understand it too. So....... a few days after birth, we had an appointment with the lactation consultant. While she was sitting there in her office, holding Kaylee, she began speaking in Spanish to her. In my mind, I thought "Uh, lady, she speaks English. She has no idea what you are saying!" Realizing the error in my thinking, I was thankful I had kept this thought to myself and just chuckled inside. :)

- Brandon says if he ever needs a laugh, he will just envision this scene again... Kaylee, stripped down getting her diaper changed, sneezes and simultaneously squirts out her booty... Newton's law of motion at it's purest.

Well, that's all for now. Back to bed to see how long little Hootie will last before she wants another refill!
To God be the glory, great things He has done!
