While we were seeking the Lord about how to minister here
and where to find friends, God was already working in our midst in the hearts
of others, even before we came. Just this week, we connected with one of the
few other young couples in the area (they were on vacation up until now), and
they are here, pretty much, solely to minister to the people of Anderson. All
the details are pretty cool but unnecessary. Point is, God has laid a lot of
similar burdens and passions on their heart, and so we, and a few other
believers in town, are endeavoring on a new journey of what the body and church
of Christ is supposed to look like here. We decided to start meeting on Sundays
and just seeking the Lord together. It is super exciting and such a crazy
answer to prayer. Don’t know what it will look like but He is faithful to
provide and our prayer is that He will be glorified.
The whole day before meeting them, I had a song in my head.
It is not necessarily my favorite song, but the point is every good thing comes
from God. I have just really been blown away by God’s goodness to us and
His answering our prayer. To be honest, at times I doubted He would answer.
Well… I guess I believed He would answer, but I just thought it might be a lot
different than I had in mind, which was beginning to become okay in my heart. And
I know it still will look differently than my plans. But I am thankful for
friendships that have already begun and the immediate bond in Christ. But, with
all this, I have been convicted about my lack of faith at times. The ways He
works and has compassion are mind blowing.
Great is the Lord; most worthy of praise. His greatness, no
one can fathom
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans
to prosper you and not to harm you”
But as we endeavor along this path, I am also convicted by
how I need to be active and obedient and continue seeking and not just come
expecting. Thankful for a Spirit that convicts and a Word that is alive and a
God that loves. Just from tonight, I was reminded that Christ’s revelation to
us is powerful and our call from it is to be changed. Spirit of God, be in this
place.
